About

Ultimate Tech Hive covers consumer tech for people who want a straight answer.

Most tech coverage is either a press release with a byline on it, or 4,000 words of benchmarks aimed at people who already know what they’re doing. I wanted something in between. Enough detail to actually decide, not so much that you give up halfway.

The site is headquartered in the Netherlands.

What we cover

  • News. What changed, and whether it affects what you own or what you’re about to buy.
  • Guides. How to pick a laptop, a phone, a monitor, a router. The specs worth paying for and the ones that are marketing.
  • How-To. Fixing the things that break. Slow laptops, dropped Wi-Fi, phones that won’t charge properly.

Who runs this

I’m OBY (he/him), Chief Editor of Ultimate Tech Hive. I’m also the editor on every article published here. Nothing goes out without passing across my desk first.

My tech journey began with a Commodore 64 in 1987 and a PC XT in 1990. I’ve been taking machines apart ever since nearly four decades that have taught me how quickly “the next big thing” can completely disappear.

I cover the full spectrum of personal tech: hardware, consoles, mobile, and the operating systems beneath them. Windows, macOS, and Linux all run on my desk daily as active workstations. It’s the only way to truly understand where each system fails.

By day, I work as an engineer. It’s a background that trained me to read spec sheets in reverse, looking exactly for the metrics the manufacturer decided to leave out.

How the articles get written

Drafts are produced with AI assistance and edited by me before anything goes live. The full explanation is on the Editorial Policy page. I’d rather tell you up front than have you work it out.
